Group Policy gripes

Today I encountered the first group policy issues when you first setup a new environment and then not change anything after the install for some time. Unfortunately I was able to work it out, however today’s lesson brings up the following point…

  • Once you have installed a DC and setup AD and Group Policy make sure you make a start on your groups and permissions and setup them up accordingly.
  • Mapping a network drive or a few drives can either be painfully easy or completely too difficult.
  • RSOP can show you some weird results when things don’t work correctly.

However, after all that today I managed to map network drives to a user for the requirements without any issues. Finger crossed this doesn’t become a issue.
