One thing that a lot of people might not be aware of is that you have the ability to export an XML version of an SCCM task sequence then style the XML into something useable. Then with a little editing and an additional stylesheet, you can then produce a nicely presented document.

To achieve this;

1. Open up the SCCM console and navigate to the top left-hand corner and press the blue option menu. Select Connect via Windows PowerShell.

2. You should see a PowerShell window open with your site code inside. Enter the following code

(Get-CMTaskSequence Where-Object {$_.Name -eq “YourTaskSequenceName”}).Sequence Out-File C:\YourFileName.xml

Ensure that you change the “YourTaskSequenceName” and “C:\YourFileName.xml” to suit your requirements.

4. Once you have the XML exported, download the tsDocumentorv2.xsl and place the stylesheet in the same directory as the XML file.

5. Open the XML file in your favorite text editor and add the following as the second line.

<?xml-stylesheet type=”text/xsl” href=”tsDocumentorv2.xsl” mce_href=”tsDocumentorv2.xsl”?>

Now if everything went according to plan you should see something like this:
